Zoo temporarily closed

In the interest of staff and the general public’s health and in accordance with Government directives, it is with great regret that we announce the temporary closure of the National Zoo and Aquarium and Jamala Wildlife Lodge. Jamala has been closed for several days – people can still book to stay after 1 June 2020 and if we are still not open then, they can change their date without any fees.

The zoo is closed effectively from 5pm today, Wednesday 25th March 2020 and will re-open as soon as it is appropriate to do so.

We apologise for the short notice, but events are obviously moving very quickly around the world. We respectfully request that wherever possible you assist us by refraining from calling or emailing the zoo unless it is necessary, as we are already operating on a skeleton staff. We have directed 90% of our staff resources to looking after our animals and gardens, leaving precious few to handle administration in a closed zoo and lodge.

We appreciate your consideration and your ongoing support and look forward to welcoming you back when we re-open.
