This year, the National Zoo & Aquarium is hosting a special event to mark the occasion with special talks, short films, activities for kids and plenty of freebies to get everyone started!
The Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) will be at the zoo this weekend helping to spread the word and will be providing lots of fun too!
As much as 40 per cent of the world oceans are heavily affected by human activities like pollution, depleted fisheries, and loss of coastal habitats. By avoiding plastics, eating sustainable fish and not littering, we can work together to protect this vital resource.
The MSC will be offering guests a head start on improvements they can make, by offering free re-usable bags and bottles and even sustainable fish!
World Oceans Day celebrations will take place this weekend on 10th and 11th June from 9.30am until 4.30pm in the Aquarium.
Collect your free kids activity sheets at the Front Counter when you arrive – and your free re-usable bag in the Aquarium (while stocks last)
